James V. Traynor, age 77, of Spring Valley died Monday, December 18, 2017 due to injuries received in an accident in the woods.

Jim was born June 5, 1940 to Victor and Evelyn (Petan) Traynor in Gilman Township, Pierce County, Wisconsin.  He was baptized and confirmed at Gilman Lutheran Church, Spring Valley and had also attended St John’s Lutheran in Spring Valley for a number of years.

Farming was Jim’s life.  Part of a busy family of ten, he grew up and farmed on the family farm in Gilman Township until 1972 when he purchased his own farm a few miles away.  Through the years, while farming, he made time for and was passionate about 4-H and 4-H softball, bee keeping, social events, and farm auctions.

At age 77 he was still farming, raising sheep and beef cattle.  He enjoyed hunting and working outdoors. Jim served on the Gilman Town Board for over 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew Dean Traynor; niece Rebecca Traynor; and brother-in-law Lauren Bonde.

He is survived by his wife Lynn; children: Tammie (Dale) Zahorik; Gregory Traynor; and Sara (Patrick) Nelson; 3 grandchildren: Kaelyn (Deanna) Traynor; Brian (Haley) Traynor; and Brandon (Shelby) Nelson;  5 great grandchildren: Taytum and Brayntton Traynor; and Braxton, Colton, and Peyton Nelson; 4 brothers and 3 sisters: Larry and Linda Traynor; Sharon ‘Sherri’ and Don Anderson; Pat Carmen and Bob Vogt; Joyce Traynor and Ken Peskar; Richard ‘Dick’ and Darlene Traynor; Robert ‘Bob’ and Kathy Traynor; and Michael ‘Mike’ and Claudia Traynor; in-laws Allan Bonde and Evon Brownlee; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial service is on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Gilman Lutheran Church, Spring Valley. Visitation is Thursday from 3-8 p.m. at Gilman Lutheran and one hour prior to the service at church on Friday.  Burial of cremated remains will be in East Bethel Cemetery, East Bethel, Minnesota at a later date.
