Lawrence Lofgren, 93, of Elmwood, Wisconsin died Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, Wisconsin
Larry was born September 14, 1923 to William and Ida (Hablutzel) Lofgren at Afton, Minnesota. He grew up at Afton and attended Stillwater High School, graduating with the Class of 1940. On September 28, 1946 Larry married Gertrude Gelbmann at St. Bernard’s Church in St. Paul. They lived on the Lofgren family farm in Afton until 1962. At that time, they moved to a farm in Spring Valley, Wisconsin. They retired in 1987 and moved to their home in Elmwood.
Larry had served on the Afton Town Board and held the offices of Clerk and Treasurer. He served as a church officer of Memorial Lutheran Church in Afton, and was presently a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spring Valley. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Gertrude in 2010; and 2 brothers Randolph and William.
Survivors include 4 daughters & 4 sons: Diane (Larry) Hurtgen, Spring Valley; Leo (Patsy) Lofgren, Spring Valley; Mary Jo (Bill) Myers, St. Paul; William (Lynn) Lofgren, Hammond; Barbara (Curtis) Smith, Elmwood; Dave (Ann Thibado) Lofgren, Ellsworth; Rich (Tricia) Lofgren, Bay City; Margaret (Dan) Swanson, Oronoco, MN.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Lois Gelbmann of Shoreview, MN: many other relatives and friends.
