Avis Finke, age 95, of Spring Valley died Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the River Falls Area Hospital.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from noon until 2 p.m. at Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley followed by a graveside service at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Martell Township.
Avis was born June 10, 1923 to Henry and Hazel (Smith) Fouks near Cylon, Wisconsin. She grew up at Cylon and attended and graduated from New Richmond High School. On June 10, 1945 Avis was married to Paul Finke. They lived and farmed in Martell Township on the Finke Family farm their entire married life. Avis has lived at Valley Villas Assisted Living in Spring Valley for the past 8 years.
Avis was a member of the Locust Grove Homemakers and was a 4-H Leader for several years. She enjoyed embroidery, trichem painting, and especially making afghans. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting and knitting. She loved to dance, read and write to pen pals. She raised her two children Maxine and Dale and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Paul; brother Gordon and his wife Doris; and sister Helen and her husband Julius Holmson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Robert and Adeline Finke and Lloyd and Frances Finke.
Survivors include her two children: Maxine (Art) Schaller of Baldwin; and Dale (Marilyn) Finke of Spring Valley; 7 grandchildren: Lee (Jeena) Schaller; Paula (Jim) Knutson; Art III (Beth) Schaller; Nicole (Nate) Neisinger; Christopher Finke; Amanda Finke; and April Finke; 9 great grandchildren: Austin and Dylan Schaller; Eryka and Jasper Knutson; Alex and Isbella Schaller; and Clayton, Tristan, and Sierra Neisinger; other relatives and friends.
Visitation is from noon until 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley with a graveside service to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Martell Township, Pierce County, Wisconsin.
Avis’ grand children served as pallbearers and her great grandchildren as honorary bearers.
