Barry Anderson, age 72, of Spring Valley, WI. died Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at his home in Gilman Township.

Visitation will be on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 2-6 p.m. at St John’s Lutheran Church, Spring Valley, WI.

Memorial service for Barry will be Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 6 p.m. following visitation at St John’s.

Burial will be at a later date in St John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Spring Valley.

Barry was born April 19, 1944 to Andrew and Gertrude (Rood) Anderson in Los Angeles, California. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Spring Valley, WI. After graduating with the Spring Valley Class of 1962, he worked and attended college in the Twin Cities. He also served in the US Navy and Naval Reserve for 6 years. Upon his father’s death in 1969, Barry returned home to run the family farm. The Anderson Farm is a Certified Century Farm.  On June 13, 1970, he married Mary Catherine O’Connell at St. Mary’s in Hammond, WI.

Barry was a true farmer, an inventive problem-solver, and his life was devoted to caring for his family, the land and animals. He enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends, reading the paper, exploring the Western Wisconsin region and beyond, and then drinking more coffee with friends.

Preceded in death by his parents; grandson Thorn Anderson; brother-in-law Louis ‘Tom’ Anderson, and son-in-law Matthew Marvel.  

Survived by his wife Mary; children; Matthew Anderson of Madison; Shannon (Ik) Enorense of Aurora, Illinois; Kimberly (Slim Evans) Anderson of Los Angeles, California; Wyatt (Katie) Anderson of Spring Valley; and Ivy (Ben) Gocker of Tupper Lake, New York; grandchildren: Nosa and Esohe Enorense; Ian Hakes and Finnley Anderson; siblings: Larry (Kate) Anderson, Barbara Anderson, Craig (Sandy) Anderson, Renee (Gary) Larson, and Gail (Dan) Anderson, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Honorary bearers: Gene Geiger, Garland Fregine, Bob Freiberg, Curt Ronnander, Paul Anderson and Wayne Hojem.
