Benora ‘Betty’ Breitinger, age 92, of Spring Valley, died Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at the Spring Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Visitation with luncheon will be Saturday, May 18, 2019 from noon to 1 p.m. at St John’s Lutheran Church, Spring Valley.
A memorial service will follow visitation at the church at 1 p.m.
A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. on May 18 at Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery, Beldenville in the morning prior to the memorial service.
In the early morning of March 6th, 2019, Benora Doris Jean Bjornson Breitinger, age 92, of Spring Valley, WI entered her heavenly home.
Betty was born October 7, 1926 in Spring Valley, WI to Edward and Wilhelmina (Sobottka) Bjornson. She was baptized at Gilman Lutheran Church, and was confirmed at and a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Spring Valley.
Betty attended Spring Valley Schools and graduated with the Class of 1944. She continued her education at UW-River Falls and Stout State University in Menomonie.
On August 30, 1947, she was married to George Breitinger at Gilman Lutheran Church. They raised three daughters, Beth, Jean, and Cherie, and "adopted" daughter Bonnie.
Betty’s love and devotion to her family was always evident. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life and she enjoyed spending time with them whenever she could. She had a passion for learning, reading, and traveling. She enjoyed baking, sewing, crossword puzzles, drawing and water painting. She spent many hours coloring at the Care Center. Anyone who visited would leave with a gift of her coloring.
Betty’s faith in and love of the Lord was the guiding compass throughout her life. Every morning began with coffee, her devotions, and prayers for her loved ones. The community of Spring Valley and St. John’s Lutheran was always home to Betty and she enjoyed being active in it. She taught Sunday School and held various offices on the Church Council as well as W.E.L.C.A.
Betty will be forever remembered by her daughters: Beth Weldon; Jean (James) Richio; Cherie (Carl) Schmidt; Bonnie (Ron) Drabowicz;
Grandchildren: Elizabeth (Chris) Hullett, Julie (Danny) Cook; Nicholas Schmidt, Cameron Schmidt; Katie (Brian) Wissing, Kelly (Brian) Perz, Justin (Sarah) Drabowicz;
Jonathon (Lisa) Richio, Justine (Steven ) Ketterhagen;
Great grandchildren: Kellianne, Charlotte; Miranda, Madeline; Erin, Kyle, Jessica; Madyson; Nolan, Taylor; Maxwell and Maverick;
sister Lois Larson; sister-in-law Nancy Bjornson; brother-in-law Gerald Peterson; other relatives and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband George; son-in-law Gary Weldon, great grandson Luke Gary Schell; brother Walter Bjornson; sister Mary Ann Peterson; brother-in-law Norris Larson.
The family sincerely thanks the Spring Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center and Adoray Hospice for their care and kindness shown to Betty.

Celebration of Life Service is Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at St John’s Lutheran Church, Spring Valley.
A visitation luncheon will precede the service from noon to 1 p.m., and a small dessert reception will follow the service. Please join us!
Private gravesite service at 10:30 a.m.
The family is requesting cheerful color attire as this is a celebration of Betty’s life.
