Glenn L. Knutson, age 87 of Beldenville, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Monday, April 3, 2017 after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Visitation will be on Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at Rush River Lutheran Church, rural River Falls and also one hour prior to the service Friday at church.

A memorial funeral service will be on Friday, April 7 at 2 p.m. at Rush River Lutheran.

Glenn was born on January 24, 1930 on the family farm in Martell Township to Adolph and Alma (Olson) Knutson, the fourth of five boys born into this family.   He was baptized and confirmed in the Martell Lutheran Church and attended school at Cloverdale School.
Glenn and two of his brothers were thrust into running the family farm at a young age after the unexpected loss of their father and their youngest brother contracted polio.  Soon after he met the love of his life, Doris Roen.  His love life was interrupted by his being drafted into the US Army.  Glenn returned home in 1954 after serving his country in the Korean War.  He married his sweetheart that same year on July 18th at Rush River Lutheran Church.
The next five years brought the birth of three sons and a daughter.  Glenn ran the family farm with two of his brothers. Glenn enjoyed working with the cattle which were  kept at various locations.  During harsh winters, which made roads impassable, he would sometimes have to walk or ski  to feed them.  All three of his sons farmed with  Glenn until the loss of his son Donnie in 1977.  Farming continued as Glenn loved spending countless hours on the tractors and the skid loader, working, clearing and improving the land.  In addition to farming,  he was a Pioneer Seed Salesman for twenty years.  He loved working with his customers and sharing his love of farming with friends and family.
Over the years he enjoyed camping, fishing and being a fan of the Twins and Vikings.  His greatest love was sharing time with his family.
Travels for Glenn and Doris brought them to Europe, Africa, Alaska, Panama, Hawaii and areas throughout the continental US, even to their ancestral home in Norway.
Glenn is survived by his wife Doris, his son Jerry (Debbie) of Ellsworth, daughter Jean Hanson of Beldenville, son Kevin (Judy) of Beldenville, grandchildren  Josh (Angie) of River Falls, Donny (Jennifer) of Ellsworth, Amy (Grant) Greske of North Hudson, Kelly of River Falls, Aaron of Beldenville,  Meaghan Hanson of River Falls, Jacob Hanson of Beldenville;  eight great-grandchildren: Kylie, Emmett, Addison, Bentley, Molly, Rose, Alexandria (Lexi), Dylan; numerous other relatives, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Donnie, great-grandson Grady, four brothers: Bertten, Vernon, Kenneth and Arnold.
Visitation on Thursday,  April 6th, from 4-7pm at Rush River Lutheran Church, with Funeral Services and Internment on Friday, April 7th at 2pm.  Visitation one hour prior to the service, officiated by Pastor David Teig
Military Honors were performed by the River Falls American Legion.
