Mildred “Millie” Johnson, age 87, of Elmwood, Wisconsin died Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Eau Claire.
Funeral service for Mildred will be Monday, February 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Welcome Home Assisted Living in Elmwood.
Visitation will be Monday, February 26 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Welcome Home in Elmwood.
Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Mildred Elaine ‘Millie’ Johnson, age 87 of Elmwood, Wisconsin died Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Eau Claire.
Millie was born December 27, 1930 to Arthur and Esther (Glampe) Samuel in Cady Township, St Croix County, Wisconsin. She grew up on the Samuel family home farm in Spring Lake Township. She graduated from Spring Valley High School with the Class of 1949.
On January 17, 1953 Millie married Charles Johnson at the St John’s Lutheran Church-Hatchville parsonage in Weston Township. Millie and Charles lived in Racine, Wisconsin for a few years, then moved to Menomonie, Wisconsin a while before moving to Minneapolis. Millie worked various jobs while in Minneapolis. Charles died in 1987 and in 1988 Millie moved to Weston where she lived until moving to Welcome Home Assisted Living in Elmwood in 2009.
Millie enjoyed a good card game and loved playing dominos, especially with her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching the Twins, old time music, and puzzle books.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Charles; and 2 infant brothers: Roger and Norman Samuel.
She is survived by her daughter Beverly (Michael) Hagberg of Champlin, Minnesota; son Steven (Peggy) Johnson of Danbury, Wisconsin; grandchildren: Chris (Nikki) Hagberg; Shawn (Kristi) Hagberg; Matthew (fiancé Amy Barber and her children: Justin and Alex); and Jessie (Chad) Weinberger; great grandchildren: Austin, Paige, and Morgan Hagberg; Meika Kolb; and Ella and Charles Weinberger; great granddaughter Serenity Hagberg; brothers Ray Samuel and Wayne Samuel; sister Karen Wisemiller; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation is from 9:30 until 10:30 Monday, February 26, 2018 at Welcome Home Assisted Living in Elmwood, Wisconsin. Funeralservice is at 10:30 on Monday following visitation at Welcome Home. Burial is in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
