Robert Jenny

Robert Jenny, age 83, of Spring Valley died Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Birchhaven Assisted Living in Baldwin.

Memorial service will be Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart-Brother Michael Center in Spring Valley.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at the Center prior to the service.

Burial will be in Oklahoma at a later date.

Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association.

Bob was born March 20, 1936 in Elgin IL, to George and Laura (Hake) Jenny.  He grew up in the Burlington, Illinois area.  After school, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War.

After returning from his service, Bob attended California Polytechnic State University in San Louis Obispo where he studied Aeronautical Engineering.  On August 5, 1961 Bob married Mary Burk in San Louis Obispo, California.  Together they raised 5 children.

Bob, Mary and the kids moved around quite a bit in the early years before settling down in Crivitz, WI in the early 70’s. Bob found his dream job at Enstrom Helicoptor in Menominee, Michigan where he worked as an Aeronautical Engineer until his retirement in 2001. After retiring Bob and Mary moved to Spring Valley, WI to be closer to the kids who had settled in the area.  After 45 years together Mary passed away unexpectedly September 26, 2006.

On April 4, 2008 Bob married Una Kannel, a long time Spring Valley resident.  They lived happily in Spring Valley until he entered Birch Haven Care Center in November of 2017, to provide the additional care that his Alzheimer’s journey required. Thank you to Tammy, Kayla, and all the nurses and staff at Birch Haven for their kind and compassionate care.

Bob lived a true engineer life and loved to tinker, repair and build. He was the first call whenever something went wrong around the house or with a car.

He was smart, generous with his time and kind to everyone he met and will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents; George and Laura; wife Mary; daughter Kathleen; and brother George (Delores) Jenny.

Survivors include; wife Una; son Tom (Ann) Jenny; daughters: Michele (Chris) Maurer; Lee (Steve) Walters; and Melissa (Kevin Linden) Jenny; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson: Emily (Zach) Bergen and their son Ezra; Kate, Meg, Cole and Molly; 8 step daughters; 2 step sons; numerous other relatives and friends.
