Alana ‘Lanie’ Hauschildt, age 79, of Elmwood, Wisconsin, died Sunday, December 8, 2024, at her home in Elmwood.
Memorial service for Lanie will be Friday, December 20, 2024, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Ellsworth.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 20 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s U.C.C. prior to the service.
Alana ‘Lanie’ Hauschildt, age 79, of Elmwood, Wisconsin, died at her home on Sunday, December 8, 2024 after a short battle with cancer.
Lanie was born August 7, 1945, to Raymond and Lillian (Nelson) Schaar at Lakeville, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm in the Beldenville area and attended Ellsworth Schools. She graduated with the Class of 1963.
Lanie was married to William Greifzu in South Dakota. They had two children together: Bill and Maria. Their marriage later ended in divorce.
Lanie helped on the farm while growing up. She worked a number of jobs before starting her own house cleaning business.
She loved crafts and especially enjoyed crocheting. She made hundreds of prayer shawls for church, tablecloths and other items.
On September 1, 1979, Lanie married David Hauschildt. They enjoyed traveling and camping together and lived in Elmwood for over 20 years.
Lanie was a very generous and caring person. She was always there when someone needed an extra hand. Lanie enjoyed birdwatching, reading, and had an amazing green thumb.
Anyone who knew her was inspired by her bright spirit and beautiful smile. A simple laugh of hers always seemed to brighten a room. She also enjoyed reading a good book, bird watching and gardening.
Preceding her in death were her parents and sister-in-law Rosie Schaar.
Survivors include her husband Dave; son Bill (Kathy) Greifzu; daughter Maria (Paul) Wheelock; eight grandchildren: Tori, Shannon, Sera, Sam, Paige, Brady, Walker, and Karina; seven great grandchildren; brother Wayne Schaar; sister Pam (Gordon) Knutson; other relatives and friends.
