Allan attended grade and high school in Spring Valley.  After high school, he attended and graduated from Minneapolis Business College.  He spent one summer doing road construction and after college he worked for a CPA firm in South Dakota for a short time.  After his father fell ill, Allan and his brother-in-law bought his father’s business, a funeral home and furniture store.  They operated as Geving and Keehr Furniture and Funeral Service for a number of years before operating Geving’s House of Furniture.

Allan spent two years in the Army during the Korean War, stationed in Alabama.  After serving, he attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for one year.  He served an apprenticeship in the funeral work for one year and attended the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science.  Allan received his Wisconsin and National Funeral Director Licenses in 1958.  In 1992, after 40 plus years in business, he retired from the furniture store and moved to Mesa, Arizona.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing and card playing.  He was married to Viola Norderhaug.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister Rosalind; step father Carl DeJager; and sister Lavon Keehr and her husband Donald.
