Allen Arneson Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Allen Arneson, age 53, of Elmwood, Wisconsin. He died after a difficult battle with cancer on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at his home.

Visitation/Celebration of Life for Allen will be Saturday, September 28, 2024, from noon until 2 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Beldenville.

Memorial service for Allen will be at 2 p.m. at Our Savior’s on Saturday, following the visitation.

Following Allen's burial, we will meet at Elmwood Fire Department for some food and refreshments organized by the Elmwood Fire Department.

Burial will be in Zion Covenant Cemetery, Ellsworth, Wisconsin.

Allen was born April 21, 1971, to Larry and Ruby (Torpen) Arneson in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  He grew up in Ellsworth, attended Ellsworth Schools, and graduated with the Class of 1989.

At the age of 17, he joined the Army National Guard. He served for 8 years and was a Heavy Anti-Armor Weapons Infantryman. He worked at Value Implement in Baldwin for about 10 years. He got a part time job at U.P.S. and eventually became a fulltime driver and retired after 23 years. He was a captain and the training officer of the Elmwood Fire Department for 11 years. Allen was also active on the Rescue dive team.

On June 10th, 1996, Allen married his wife Megan Elwood in Las Vegas, Nevada. They lived in Hudson for a short time before moving to Elmwood in 2000 where they raised their two kids, Colin and Courtney.

Allen was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserve. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. Allen especially adored his 2 grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, playing cards with friends, and he enjoyed his occasional pull tabs. He also enjoyed taking trips with his friends and his wife. He put others first and was there for anyone needing help. Allen was eager to go on his next adventure.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents: Orville and Bernice Arneson and James and Viola Torpen; his aunts: Donna Cook and Patsy Phillips; and his best friend Kelvin Stockwell.

Allen is survived by his wife of 28 years, Megan Arneson; Mother Ruby (Royce) Nelson; Father Larry Arneson; Children Colin (Courtney) Arneson, Courtney (Justin) Joyce; Grandchildren Kaizley, Maverick. Sibling Aaron Arneson; many other relatives and friends.

Honorary bearers are: Tom Joyce, Micah Hoyt, Joseph Phillips, and Jason Phillips.

Prior to his passing, Allen often wanted to recognize how much support he had. Our family wants to recognize those who were often there including, many family members, close friends, and Mayo Clinic Hospice staff.
