Barbara Jacobson

Barbara Jacobson, age 88, of Spring Valley, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at the Spring Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Visitation for Barb will be on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 10 a.m. until noon at Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley.

A graveside service will be at noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Spring Valley.

Barbara Jean Jacobson, aged 88, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025, at the Spring Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center. Barbara was born on September 14, 1936, and spent her early years growing up in Evanston, Illinois, where she attended St Nicholas Catholic School. Upon graduation, Barbara traveled daily to Chicago where she worked as a secretary and a proofreader of manuscripts and books.  During this time she met the love of her life, Duane as he was stationed in Chicago while serving in the Great Lakes Naval Academy.  They were married in Glenwood on the Jacobson family farm and moved to Spring Valley in 1959.  She was soon a busy Mom raising a toddler and twins. 

Later in life, she worked as a caregiver at Aurora for over 20 years, where she provided comfort and support to many clients. 

Barbara found great joy in her hobbies, which included reading, attending auctions, thrift sales or flee markets in search of unique antiques. She enjoyed peaceful moments as she tended to flowers in her yard. She also loved driving along the Mississippi River in the spring as the ice broke apart to watch the eagles soar through the air to catch fish. Her favorite season was fall when she would love to take long drives through the local hills and valleys appreciating the beauty of the changing leaves. 

She is survived by her sons, David (Vickie) Jacobson, Christopher (Cheri) Jacobson; son-in-law, Jeff Johnson; grandchildren, Megan (Brandon) Bloch, Mitchell (Lia) Johnson, Brooke Snyder, Jade Jacobson, Madison (Brett Pladies) Jacobson; great-grandson, Emmett Johnson; and her forever friend, Linda Immerfall. 

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, David and Kathryn Peterson; husband, Duane Jacobson; daughter, Cathy Johnson; aunt, Theresa Schmitz; and grandson, Lance Snyder.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 15th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Keehr Funeral Home in Spring Valley, followed by a graveside service at noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
