Bernard was born July 5, 1931, in Cady Township to Robert and Esther Voelker. Bernard grew up on the family farm, the eldest of three boys. He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1950 and married his high school sweetheart, Eleanor Jacobson, in 1952.
Bernard served in the U.S. Army overseas in France from 1953-1955 as a truck driver. Once home, he worked at 3M and Polka Dot Dairy in Hastings, Minnesota. He eventually became an owner operator, driving for Berger Transfer of Minneapolis until his retirement at the age of 80.
Bernard had a strong faith in “the man upstairs” and was a founding member of Joy Lutheran Church in Prescott. He was also a member of the American Legion. He had a zest for life and enjoyed a large circle of friends. He loved traveling, playing cards, annual fishing trips, and attending social events. Most of all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Dad guided our family with a quiet strength and a cheerful heart. He was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.
Bernard is survived by his children: Richard (Linda) Voelker, Dean (Pat) Voelker, Sandra (Tom) Hart, Tom (Sue) Voelker, Mitch (Kris) Voelker, Kent (JeanneAnn) Voelker, and Jill Voelker; 14 grandchildren: 12 great grandchildren; his brother Stanley Voelker; sisters-in-law: Rainey Punchard, Dorisey Bunge, Joan Edwards, Karen Zabrowski; brothers-in-law; Walter Jacobson and Terry Pritchard; several cousins, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Our heartfelt thanks go to the staff at the Prescott Nursing Home and Moments Hospice for the compassionate care they provided Dad in his final days. Memorials may be given in Dad’s name to the Joy Lutheran Building Maintenance Fund.
