Carleen Johnson, age 74, of Baldwin, Wisconsin died Friday, January 3, 2020 at home in Eau Galle Township.
Visitation is from 3-6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at St John’s Lutheran Church in Spring Valley with a prayer service at 6 p.m. at the church.
Lunch will follow service.
Carleen was born February 4, 1945 in Decatur, Illinois to Guy and Eloise (Pifer) Standerfer. She was raised by her foster mother, Dora Cahill. Carleen attended school in Vandalia, Illinois and lived there until her first marriage. She received her GED and later attended ITC-Eau Claire where she received an Associate Degree in accounting.
Carleen worked as a mutual teller at the St Croix Dog Track in Hudson. She also worked at Kwik Trip in Baldwin. After retiring she helped the Amish community with their produce business.
On January 31, 1984 she married Joe Johnson at Nashua, Iowa. They lived south of Baldwin, Wisconsin in Eau Galle Township. Carleen was straightforward and honest and you always knew where you stood with her. She was firm, yet supportive, and was always there when needed. She sewed many dresses and quilts and raised miniature schnauzer puppies.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her foster mother Dora Cahill; son Gary Spinner; siblings Sonny Standerfer, Ruth Wallace, Vina Jean Standerfer, and Laura Rodriguez.
Survivors include her husband Joe; children and grandchildren: Jerry ‘Chip’ (Suzie) Spinner and daughter Rayna; Richard “Dutch” (Nancy) Spinner and children Amanda Brady, and Brenda; Carol Spinner; Jody (Dana) Johnson and daughter Kalina; Jason (Tina) Johnson and children Mercedes and Alex; and Jarrod (Antoinette) Johnson and children Derrick and Marcus; 13 great grandchildren; sister Pat (Don) Nelson; brother Harland (Peggy) Standerfer; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
