David John Lickness, age 47, of Spring Valley, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Sunday, March 23, at 2:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Spring Valley.
Visitation will be from 12:30 until 2:30 p.m. at church prior to the service.
Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Spring Valley.
David was born July 7, 1977, in New York. He was born with cerebral palsy and when he was two years old, his parents moved to Wisconsin. In August 1979, he was placed in foster care with Chris and Jeannette Lickness. David became a permanent member of the Lickness family when Chris and Jeannette adopted David on May 26, 1988. He attended Spring Valley Grade School and attended high school at Glenwood City High School graduating with the Class of 1998. David was baptized and Confirmed in Christ at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Spring Valley.
David lived at Lamb’s Creek Adult Family Home in Boyceville, WI. He had many friends living there with him and was a favorite among the staff!
He enjoyed playing games, watching movies and TV. America’s Funniest Home Videos and Impractical Jokers were among his favorites. He loved to see people being pranked! He would laugh with everything in him! He was so full of joy!! He loved to throw kisses to those who deserved them!! Otherwise you got to see his tongue.
Being around his family was his absolute favorite! He loved being with his nieces and nephews, especially when they were babies!! Christmas was his favorite holiday…he LOVED opening gifts!! He also was a big fan of the Easter egg hunts!
Survivors include his parents Chris and Jeannette Lickness; siblings: Tyrone (Jeanette) Ottinger; Cindy (Bill) Schlegel; Elissa (Ted) Swanepoel; Denya (Harvey) Rutherford; Tony (Steven) Lickness-Greene; Corina Lickness; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Honorary bearers are Abraham Ottinger, Hunter Aldridge and Noah Lickness. Pallbearers are Tyler Schlegel, Justin Ottinger, Evan Ottinger, Jed Schlegel, Seth Schlegel, and Santana Schlegel.
