Dennis Nestrud, age 68, of River Falls, Wisconsin died Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Spring Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center.
A Celebration of Life will be on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 4-6 p.m. at Keehr Funeral Home with a time of remembrance from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Dennis “Denny” Nestrud, 68. of River Falls, WI, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021, after a courageous fight with cancer, while surrounded by his family.
Denny was born on May 7, 1953 to Maynard and Alice Nestrud in St. Paul, MN. After graduating from River Falls HS in 1971, he studied small engine repair at WITC New Richmond, WI. His early hobbies included off roading in his International Scout, cruising in a Ford Galaxy and a Plymouth Road Runner, riding on a Benelli motor cycle, listening to the Beetles, and playing with his German Shepard, Missy.
On November 13, 1976, Denny married JoAnn Swoboda in a service at St. Bridget’s Church in River Falls, WI. Over the course of 31 years, Denny and JoAnn raised 4 children and renovated an 1850’s era school house near Beldenville, WI.
Denny’s professional career covered 27 years at Andersen Windows and Doors in Bayport, MN. At the time of his retirement, Denny was a member of the Quarter Century Club and responsible for training and process improvement in the IT/Order Department.
One of Denny’s favorite pastimes was spending time with his family on the Saint Croix Flowage near Gordon, WI. He also enjoyed watching football, especially the Packers and Badgers, and deer hunting with the “Boys”. Later in life, Denny’s greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren.
On December 18, 2010, Denny married Kendra Keeler in a ceremony at Albion Methodist Church in Albion, IA. Kendra shares his love of family and was his partner in life for almost 11 years at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife Kendra; son Jerad (Katie) Nestrud, daughter Ali Nestrud, son Eric (Tamika Falkner) Nestrud, son Sam (Tara) Nestrud; grandchildren Ivy, Brandon, Jak, Oliver, Ela, Eliza, Leeora, Fyn, Abby; older brother Larry Nestrud, younger sisters Wendy Nestrud, Beth McLean, and Merilee (Brian) Bune; brother/sister-in-laws Gus Swoboda, Barry Wilson, Kim (John) McKeever, Kristy Keeler, Kent (Dawn) Keeler; father/mother-in-law Corwin and Dorothy Keeler; dog Dexter and parrot Maynard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Bea Moira Kunde, niece Barbie Nestrud, brother-in-law Mark Nyhus, and brother/sister-in-laws Jerry (LuElla) Swoboda, Penny Swoboda, Joyce (Dan) Wessley, Dusty Wilson, and Jeff Swoboda.
