Diane (Hampton) Smith

Diane Smith, age 70, of Wilson, Wisconsin, died Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Mayo Health System-Eau Claire.
Diane was born May 24, 1946 in Cady Township, St. Croix County, Wisconsin to Jayhu and Agnes (McMenamin) Hampton.  She grew up in Cady and was baptized and confirmed at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spring Valley.
   She met her husband, William Smith, at Connell’s Orchard and eventually asked him out. On May 28, 1966, Diane and William were married at 1st Baptist Church, Woodville. They were blessed with 5 children: Kari, Patrick, Shawn, Jamie and Kory who they raised together on a farm.  Diane worked at Door Depot for 20 years.  She enjoyed reading a good book and going to the Casino.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; baby son Patrick; brothers: John; Bernard; Roger; Hugh; sisters: Joan and Emily; in-laws: Gerald ‘Louie’ Brunkhorst; Myrtle Hampton; Everett Meyers; David Smith; Mary Ellen and Clinton Morissette; and nieces Donna Hampton and Jeri Brunkhorst.
   Survivors include her husband Bill of Wilson; her children: Kari Hillstead of Hammond; Shawn (Shelly Meech) Smith of Woodville; Jamie (Kim Kay) Smith of Hudson and Kory Smith of Hammond; 2 Sisters: Shirley Hampton of Spring Valley and Carol Meyers of Spring Valley; 3 sisters-in-law: Fran Hampton of Menomonie; Rita Hampton of Spring Valley and Mary Hampton of Spring Valley; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
   Visitation is Sunday, March 5, 2017, from 12-2 p.m. at St John’s Lutheran Church in Spring Valley, followed by a Memorial Service at 2 pm.  Burial will be at Brookville Cemetery, Eau Galle Township.
Pallbearers are Steven Anderson, Brandon Hillstead, Codie Hillstead, Linsey Loyas, Shantelle Smith, Tyrell Smith, Trenton Smith, Trace Smith, and Kya DeConinck.
