Donald 'Donnie' Stevens Obituary

Donald ‘Donnie’ Stevens, age 89, of Spring Valley, Wisconsin, died Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Spring Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Memorial service will be Monday, June 23, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Spring Valley.

Visitation will also be on Monday, June 23, from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at church prior to the service.

Burial will be in Hay River Cemetery, Hay River Township, Dunn County, Wisconsin.

Donnie was born May 13, 1936, to Paul and Agnes (Moen) Stevens at Menomonie, Wisconsin.  He attended Clover Valley Elementary School and Colfax High School, graduating with the Class of 1954.

After high school, Donnie served in the U.S. Army. While in the Army, he married JoAnn Ankney.  They were married November 17, 1954 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  They lived in Arizona and St. Paul before moving to Spring Valley.

Donnie worked at Ford Motor Company in St. Paul for 30 years as a garage service mechanic and retired at age 52. He and JoAnn loved to travel and for 29 years, wintered in Arizona. He truly loved the variety of the state and enthusiastically drove visitors all around. His girls thought he could have been named Ambassador for Arizona! Donnie and JoAnn spent their summers in their camper at the farms of Bill Stein and Elvie Kulenkamp.  He had served on the Spring Lake Church Council and sang in the choir. He often sang with his daughter Shelli.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife JoAnn; infant daughter Jayne Marie, and infant son (unnamed); brother DuWayne and wife Irma; sisters Aline and husband Ted Jurecki, and Donna Tryggestad;  sons-in-law Larry Aamodt and Tim Wood.

Survivors include his daughters: Shelli Wood, Suzanne Duchane, and Julie Aamodt; 5 grandchildren;  Joni (Kevin) Olson; Tony (Jenny) Stevens; Troy (Renata) Wood; Dan Lawler and Kevin Lawler; 9 great grandchildren: Molly Olson, Elizabeth Olson; Cooper (Jordan) Stevens; Gabby (Tanner) Homme, Izzy Stevens; Klara and Cameron Wood; and Payton and Shelby Lawler; 4 great great grandchildren: Brody, Wesson, and Jonathan Stevens, Knox Homme; as well as many other relatives and friends.
