Doris Hanson, age 89, of Centuria, Wisconsin, formerly of Spring Valley, died Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at her home in Centuria.
Memorial visitation is Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 5-7 p.m. at Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley with a prayer service to be held at 7 p.m.
Doris was born December 21, 1934, at Onamia, Minnesota to James and Grace (Keeler) Vanderpoel. She attended Milaca Schools and studied to be a C.N.A. in St. Paul
On August 26, 1953, Doris married Gerhart Hanson in Emerald, Wisconsin. They lived most of their married life near Spring Valley where they raised their family of 5 children. They built a cabin at Minong, Wisconsin and lived there for a number of years. She also lived in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin and Doris has lived in Centuria since 2009.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gerhart; son Jerry; brothers: Bernard ‘Buster’ Vanderpoel and his wife Marilyn; Marlo ‘Sonny’ Vanderpoel; Lavern Vanderpoel and his wife Pam; and sister Lillian and her husband Wayne Harshman.
She is survived by her children: Larry Hanson; Crystal (David) Moody; Linda (Kirk Hexum) Stark; and Carol (Jim) Collins. Her grandchildren Nicky (Mike) Sealy; Becky (Rob) Timm; Elishia Dougherty; C' Ann Heckler, Dustin (Mickal) Stanitis; Cheri (Tim McClellan) Nellsen; James Moody; Courtney (Michael Fox) Birchett ; 11 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Valoris Vanderpoel; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family would also like to thank St Croix Hospice for everything that they did and helped with in the last few months.
