Dorothy Hofacker, age 92, of Spring Valley, Wisconsin died Saturday, May 23, 2020 at her home in Spring Lake Township.
A private family service will be held on Thursday, May 28 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at a future date.
Dorothy was born August 22, 1927 to Florence and Alice (Rein) Wakefield in Arkansaw, Wisconsin. She grew up and attended school in Arkansaw and graduated in 1946. While in school she had worked at Red Wing Shoe and also lived and worked as a waitress in Duluth for a summer.
On April 24, 1947 Dorothy married Walter Hofacker at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle. They lived in Eau Galle and Menomonie before moving to Spring Valley. Dorothy and Walter enjoyed 73 years of marriage. They spent many hours together on the road in the semi, traveling all across the United States. She raised her family of four and enjoyed sewing and gardening.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brother Vern Wakefield and sister Bernice Wik.
She is survived by her husband Walter of Spring Valley; sons: Ed (Gail) Hofacker of Spring Valley and Dan (Lorrie) Hofacker of Eau Claire; daughters Sue (Calvin) Whirry of Spring Valley and Cindy (Ed) Hewitt of Red Wing; 4 brothers and 2 sisters: Darrel (Hannalore) Wakefield; Larry (Myrna) Wakefield; Del Jane (Marvin) Kannel; Glenn (Sharon) Wakefield; Sandra (Larry) Vevang; and Mike (Diane) Wakefield; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
A private family service will be Thursday, May 28 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Spring Valley. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at a later date.
Honorary bearers are Luke Thornton, Jack Thornton, Emily Hofacker and Taylor Hofacker.
Bearers are Dylan Hofacker, Tyler Dewall, Ethan Hofacker, Justin Hofacker, Nikolas Hofacker, and Jonathon Helgeson.
