Visitation will be on Sunday, January 9, 2022, from 4-7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Spring Valley, and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Duane was born February 26, 1947, to Ervin and Signa (Larson) Larrieu in Menomonie, Wisconsin. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Cady Township.
Duane attended Spring Valley Schools. He worked all his life in Spring Valley for Gilbertson Lumber Company and Oak-Dale Hardwoods. He also worked for Elmer Miller skinning coon, foxes and mink as a side job for many years. On June 21, 1969, Duane married Judy Gilbertson at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Spring Valley.
Duane would give you his shirt off his back if you needed it. He enjoyed the company of everyone, always looking for the good in you. He enjoyed going to the bars and Cenex where he could have a drink and play some Lottery (I’m going to win big one day, wait and see!!). He enjoyed the outdoors (hunting, cutting wood and camping). He was a collector of many things, hats, stuffed animals, and whatever else he liked. (“it’s going to be worth something someday”) He always enjoyed going ‘thrift sailing’, especially with Darcie and Donna because they would let him buy anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Bill Larrieu; nephew Josh Larrieu; and niece Amy Larrieu.
Survivors include his wife Judy; sons: Jim (Lisa) Gilbertson and Lloyd (Darcie) Larrieu; 4 grandchildren: Zach and Cody Gilbertson and Trenton (Jennifer) Larrieu and Alexzandria Larrieu; 3 great grandchildren: Addy, Brantley, and Harleigh; Special niece Jamie (Michael) Hall; siblings: Bonnie (Gail) Mick; Timothy Larrieu; and Tina Cotts; several in-laws; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and his beloved dog Bandit.
