Evelyn ‘Evey’ Vanasse, age 83 of Spring Valley, Wisconsin, died Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Spring Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Visitation for Evey will be on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 11 a.m. until noon at Gilman Lutheran Church in Spring Valley.
Funeral service will be at 12 noon on Friday, following visitation, at Gilman Lutheran.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Evey was born January 31, 1939 to Vernon George and Eunice Marian (Fisk) Spence in Blue Earth County, Minnesota. Evey grew up in Gilman Township and attended Spring Valley Schools. She graduated with the Class of 1957.
After high school, Evey lived in St. Paul for a short time. She met and married Irvin Vanasse and they lived in River Falls while Irvin attended college. Evey and Irvin lived in St. Paul and then Hudson before moving to Poughkeepsie, New York in 1964. They later moved to Kasson, Minnesota and lived there until Irvin retired from IBM in 1991. They moved back to the Spring Valley area and retired near the family farm in Gilman Township. They were blessed with four children: Vern, Jeff, Vicki, and James ‘Jamie’.
Evey enjoyed dogs, visiting with her many girlfriends, family reunions, antiques, garage sailing, winters in Arizona, vacationing at the lakes, traveling, golfing, playing cards …..her hobbies were gardening, refinishing antique furniture, collecting old artwork, reading.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and brothers: Vernon Lee Spence and Wayne Spence and his wife Anita.
She is survived by her husband Irvin; children: Vern (Sheryl) Vanasse; Jeff (Kristi) Vanasse; Vicki Miller; and James ‘Jamie’ Vanasse; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brother Russell (Laurel) Spence; sister-in-law Eunice Luebker; sister-n-law Mary Vanasse; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
