Gary Gilbertson

Gary Gilbertson, age 77, of Spring Valley, died Friday, October 10, 2025, at his home.

A Celebration of Life for Gary will be on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 1-4 p.m. at the Spring Valley Community Center.

Gary was born August 9, 1948, to Herman and Gladys (Pede) Gilbertson in Baldwin, Wisconsin. He attended Spring Valley Schools and graduated with the Class of 1967.

Gary loved sports and participated in football, basketball and baseball. He played slow pitch with Pete’s Pleasant View Inn team.

On March 17,1976 Gary married Susan Peterson at Christ Lutheran Church in Glenwood City.  They were blessed with two children: Mike and Jamie.

Gary worked with his dad on the home farm for a number of years.  He also worked at North Central Products where he drove logging trucks and skidders.  He owned and operated Gibby’s Bar in Spring Valley for 5 years.

His latest jobs included Locker Room Supervisor and bus driver for Spring Valley Schools.  He loved driving, especially driving the high school sports teams to their events where he could watch and support the Spring Valley Cardinal. He also set up the football field for home games. He was also a big fan of the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers.

He also enjoyed fishing, Hunting, walking through the woods looking for deer sheds, garage sales and going on wiener runs (hot dogs) with friends. 

Preceding him in death were his parents Herman and Gladys; (Ex) wife Susan K. Gilbertson; and brother Herman Jr. Gilbertson.

Survivors include his children: Mike “Gibby” (Angela) Gilbertson and Jamie (Paul) Robbins; 3 grandchildren: Morgan and Sydney Gilbertson, and Anthony Robbins; siblings: Judy Larrieu, Robert (Sue) Gilbertson, Donna and Bob Link; nieces and nephews: Jeff (Haydee) Gilbertson; Jim (Lisa) Gilbertson; Lloyd (Darcie) Larrieu; Missy (Dan) Sanden; Tyler (Emily) Gilbertson; Kirsten Gilbertson, Mike (Ashley) Link, John (Jen) Link; other relatives and friends.
