Gary Lee (Johnny) Johnson, age 63, passed away unexpectedly while working on a yard project on Friday, June 20, 2025, in River Falls, WI.

Gary was born June 26, 1961 to Roy and Joann (Brorson) Johnson in Menomonie, WI. He attended Spring Valley Schools and graduated from the Class of 1979. Gary was a Maintenance Technician for various companies throughout his life. He was quite the handyman and could always be seen with a tool in hand or working on a project. Gary was a Harley-Davidson enthusiast and enjoyed attending Sturgis for many years. He also enjoyed attending Green Bay Packer games and deer hunting with family members. Gary enjoyed playing golf, card games, and shooting pool. He and Roy could be found playing horseshoes together at Dam Days. Gary loved being social at the local establishments. It was a tradition for Gary to bring shrimp and pickled herring to all family functions, along with gifts of popcorn tins and calendars each year for Christmas. Gary enjoyed attending his kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events and instigated mischievous acts with all kids.

Gary is survived by his three daughters: Jessica (Nick) Hatzinger of Eau Claire, Kaylee Johnson of Wausau, and Kirsten Johnson of Chippewa Falls, and special friend Mari Baird-Scobey of River Falls;

Two sisters and two brothers: Marsha (Tony) Shafer of Elmwood, Greg (Jackie) Johnson of Chippewa Falls, Joy Wilson of Spring Valley, and Jeremy (Brenda) Johnson of Woodville;

Two Grandchildren: Caitlyn and Carson Hatzinger;

One Bonus Daughter: Megan (Martin) Gramenz of River Falls;

Two Bonus Grandchildren: Miles and Mason Gramenz;

Many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and special friends.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Joann Johnson; nephew Lucas Johnson; and bonus grandson Michael Gramenz.

A private service will be held for the immediate family.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Jeremy Johnson’s, “The Shed”, 19 County Road B, Woodville, WI 54028 (North of Spring Valley) from 3pm-11pm. Rock 'n Roll 7pm-11pm by Hollywood BLVD. Light refreshments will be provided. Please BYOB. Ride your bikes in tribute to Johnny. Harley-Davidson and Packer’s attire is strongly encouraged.
