Gerald Ducklow Obituary

Gerald Ducklow died Monday, April 1, 2019 at Promise Hospital in Mesa, Arizona.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 7, 2019 from 2-5 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Woodville, Wisconsin.

Funeral service will be on Sunday at 5 p.m. following the visitation at Zion with a dinner after the service.

Gerald was born October 22, 1944 to Alois and Betty (VanNortwick) Ducklow at Spring Valley, Wisconsin.  He grew up in Spring Valley where he attended Spring Valley Schools. He graduated with the Class of 1962.

After high school, Gerald worked for Ryan Construction and Everett Brown Construction.  He was drafted in 1965 and served in the U.S. Army.  He served in Viet Nam and was trained as a surveyor.  On August 10, 1968 Gerald married Colette Benson at the Congregational Church, in Spring Valley.  They lived at Spring Valley for many years before moving to Woodville.  Gerald retired from Ford Motor Company in 1998.  They enjoyed spending their winters at Apache Junction in Arizona.

Gerald had many passions in his life, but none as precious as his love for family and friends.   He did enjoy working around his houses to make it a home for his family: their Spring Valley Country Home, Woodville twin home, Apache Junction winter home, and the most treasured place of all – his cabin in Remer, Minnesota.  He  loved deer hunting, putzing around the house and especially fishing with  his fishing buddy Ryan.  Most important was spending time with his family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother Alois ‘Jr’ and his wife Lorraine; in-laws Dick and Phyllis Standaert; and godson Bryan White.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Colette; daughters Lisa Starwood and Kristin ‘Cricket’ (Jay) Gregory all of Woodbury, MN; grandchildren: Taylor, Christopher, Jaylen, Anna, and Ryan Gerald; brothers: Dick (Shirley) Ducklow of Glenwood City; Steven (Bonnie) Ducklow of Amery; Bob (Mary) Ducklow and Duane (Mary) Ducklow of Spring Valley; many other relatives and friends.
