Grace Wood, age 95, of Elmwood, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Park View Home, Woodville.
The funeral will be Monday, February 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley.
Visitation will be Monday, February 21 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Ono Methodist Cemetery, Salem Township, Wisconsin. Lunch will follow the burial at the Spring Valley Community Center.
Grace was born April 21, 1926, to George and Isabell (Reichert) Gutting in Ellsworth, Wisconsin. She grew up in Ellsworth and attended Cudd School. Grace met a young man, Chester ‘Chet’ Wood, at a dance at Proch’s Ballroom in Ellsworth. Grace and Chet were married on February 23, 1950 in Red Wing, Minnesota. They loved to dance and seemed to float across the floor together. They lived most of their lives farming near Waverly, Wisconsin.
Grace loved to play cards, especially Euchre and 500 Rummy and spent hours playing solitaire. She worked on the farm, raised her family, and enjoyed gardening and crocheting. She was loved by all and was ‘Grandma’ to all and embraced everyone.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Chet; infant son Randy; son-in-law Eugene Ray; and her nine siblings.
Survivors include 4 daughters and 2 sons: Phyllis Ray of Ellsworth; Sharon (Bruce) Schutz of Spring Valley; Sandra Linder of Spring Valley; Shawn (Tim) Forer of St Croix Falls; Lonnie Wood of Elmwood; and Rodney Wood of Balsam Lake; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; sister Rosemary Rousseau of Bloomington; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
