Gregory Hillstead Obituary

Greg Hillstead, age 69, of Wilson, Wisconsin, passed away at home on Saturday, May 18, 2024.

UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION: Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, May 31 from 4-7 p.m. at Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley.

A memorial service will be on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 12 noon at Peace Lutheran Church, rural Baldwin with visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Military honors will be performed on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Wilson American Legion. A Celebration of Life will follow honors at the Wilson Legion from 2-6 p.m.

Greg was born February 7, 1955 to Walter and Norma (Rognholt) Hillstead in St. Paul, Minnesota.  When Greg was 2 years old, his family moved to a farm in Wilson, Wisconsin.  He attended Spring Valley Schools and graduated with the Class of 1973.

After high school, Greg entered the US Airforce and served 4 years, mostly in Alaska.  During that time, he married Arlene White.   They were blessed with 3 girls: Mary, Debbie, and Ruth.  The marriage ended in divorce.

He was later married to Christine Jacobson, and they had two sons: Danny and Jeremiah.

Greg worked at Norlake for 47 years before retiring.  He enjoyed fishing, bluegrass music, old westerns and collecting classic lawn tractors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Glenn Hillstead and sister Cindy Hillstead.

Survivors include his children: Mary Sanchez; Debbie (Chris) Zollner; Ruth (Chris) Darling; Danny Hillstead; and Jermiah (Amanda) Hillstead; 15 grandchildren;   23 great grandchildren; siblings: Larry (Julie) Hillstead; Bob Hillstead; Cyndi (Tim) Stewart; Mark Hillstead; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
