Harold Halverson Obituary

Harold Halverson, age 93, of Woodville, Wisconsin died Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Red Cedar in Menomonie, Wisconsin.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Keehr Funeral Home with a prayer service at 2.

Burial will be in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spooner, Wisconsin. 

Harold was born August 6, 1927 to Norman and Winona (Darrow) Halverson in Rock Elm Township, Pierce County, Wisconsin.  He grew up and attended school at Elmwood, Wisconsin.

Harold was inducted into the United States Marines in 1945 and served for 18 months, 10 of which were on a ship.  He was in the Asiatic Pacific Area and was part of the occupation of China.

On March 8, 1952 he married Arlene Frye at Zion Lutheran Church in Woodville.  He was a mason and worked in the Twin Cities for Gilbert and Koch for about 22 years.  Harold also farmed in Cady Township for many years.  He retired at the age of 64.

Harold enjoyed farming and loved his dogs.  He also loved going on scenic drives, watching people,and going out for supper on Friday nights.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Arlene; son Wayne Halverson and daughter-in-law Janet Halverson; 5 brothers and 3 sisters; and great grandson Brady Melberg.

Survivors include two sons: Roger Halverson and his wife Darla of Princeton, MN; and Gary Halverson of Baldwin; 1 brother Glenn Halverson; 1 sister Wilma Miller; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
