James E Stringer

James E. Stringer, age 85, of Spring Valley, Wisconsin died Friday, October 18, 2019 at The Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie.

Memorial service will be on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

Burial will be in Poplar Hill Cemetery, Rock Elm, Wisconsin.

Jim was born August 15, 1934 to Earl and Laura (Fuhrman) Stringer near Elk Mound, Wisconsin.  He attended school in Elmwood and graduated with the Class of 1952.  Jim lived and farmed in the Elmwood and Menomonie areas for many years.  He also hauled livestock truck to St. Paul for ten years (1962-1972) while he farmed in Menomonie. In 1972 he purchased a farm in rural Spring Valley, where he resided the remainder of his life.  Farming and cows were everything. All who knew him knew that he rarely left the farm! He received numerous awards for quality milk, and herd recognition while farming in Spring Valley with his daughter Shari (Jeff), and their kids. In 2006 they all had the honor of hosting St. Croix Counties Farm City Day. Jim served on the Accelerated Genetics board for several years as well.  He enjoyed bowling and darts in his younger days.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sons-in-law Jeff Anderson and Joseph Krisnik; granddaughter Darla Stringer; siblings and their spouses: Don and Jan Stringer; Carol and Gene Van Schoonhoven; and Joyce and Lavern Seipel. Brother in-laws Marvin Gibson, and Henry Leehe.

Survivors include his children: Susan Krisnik of Eagan, MN; Steve (Donna) Stringer of Menomonie; Sally Stringer of Eagan; and Shari Anderson of Spring Valley; grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother Leon Stringer of Menomonie; sisters Diane Gibson of Elmwood, and Violet Leehe of Indiana; many other relatives and friends.
