Janet ‘Jan’ Brahmer, age 78, of Spring Valley, died Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at her home in Cady Township.
Visitation for Jan will be on Sunday, July 23, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. at Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley.
Memorial service will on Monday, July 24, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Spring Valley.
Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Spring Valley.
Luncheon will follow the service.
Jan was born January 29, 1945 to Edmond and Arlene (Abbott) Hayden at Menomonie, Wisconsin. She was raised in Knapp, Wisconsin, attended Menomonie schools, graduating with the Class of 1963. She worked a short time for Sandy Lee and waitressed at The Colonel Restaurant in Menomonie.
She met her future husband, Howard Brahmer, and they were married July 30, 1964 in Menomonie. They were blessed with 3 children: Skip, Leann, and Matt. During the time Howard served in the military, Jan lived in Menomonie. After Howard returned from his enlistment, they lived in Menomonie before moving to their farm in Cady Township in 1970. She worked for Cady Cheese for 43 years and would have kept working if not for her health.
Jan loved being active. She played on softball, pool and bowling leagues for many years. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, fishing, playing cards, and keno.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; brother Bill Hayden; and niece Lynn Anderson.
Survivors include her husband Howard; children: Skip Brahmer; Leann VandeBerg, Jeff, and Matt (Kim) Brahmer; 2 grandchildren: Dakota VandeBerg and Kado VandeBerg; sister Judy (Melvin) Johnson; in-laws: Ruthie Hayden and Gary (Vivian) Brahmer; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
