A Celebration of Life for Janice will be on Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 12-5 p.m. at Janice’s home, located at W1521 710th Ave, Spring Valley.
Janice LaVerle Jensen, 80, died at her home in Spring Valley, with her daughter, Amy Jo, by her side.
Janice was born January 23, 1943, in Elmwood, Wisconsin, to Clarence and Fay (Hanvelt) Robelia. At the age of 2 the family moved to Rock Elm. She attended Rock Elm grade school and then graduated from Elmwood High School in 1961.
She loved to read western books, embroidery, planting and tending her flowers, putting together jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, playing cards and football, GO PACKERS! She loved her family dearly and having them around brought her great joy, laughter, and occasional eye rolls.
She held many jobs such as a tour guide for Crystal Cave, a waitress, a bartender for many years, even owned the Pop Top bar in Elmwood for a short while. While working as a waitress in Spring Valley she met her future husband Cyril “Kenny” Jensen and they were married on October 27, 1962. The couple moved to the Spring Lake area in 1973 where they raised their 5 children. Janice lost Kenny to cancer in 2003 after 40 years of marriage. This year, she suffered the loss of her son, Martin, again to cancer. Shortly after, she started to have health problems that had her in and out of the hospital for many months. She was home for a week before her death and was able to enjoy the holidays with her family, which she thoroughly did.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenny, son Martin, sister Neoma Laurila, brothers Edward Robelia and Wayne Robelia.
She will forever be missed and remembered by her three sons: Anthony (Dawn) Jensen of Boyceville, Christopher (Lorie) Jensen of Blaine, MN, Timothy (Diana) Jensen of New Richmond and daughter Amy Jo of Spring Valley. Special son Fred (Angie) Schmoker, Ben. Grandchildren Scottie, Alex, Nick, Becca, Brett, Hannah, Max, Charlene, Lexi, Austin, and Miles. Siblings Dan, Joe, Ramona Raehsler, Sharleen McGee.
