John 'Jack' Weghorn

Jack Weghorn, age 93, of Spring Valley, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Christian Community Home, Pine Ridge, Hudson, Wisconsin.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Emmaus Church, Spring Valley.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at church prior to the service.

Burial will be in Gilman Lutheran Cemetery, Spring Valley.

A luncheon will follow service at the church.

Jack was born December 28, 1929 in Spring Valley, WI to Harland and Stella (Miller) Weghorn.  He loved his family and outdoor activities and was a hard worker.  Jack started working at Davis Clothing and Shoe business in 1945 while attending Spring Valley High School.  At the age of 22 Jack enlisted in the army and took pharmacy classes at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.  Jack dearly loved Gloria C. Arneson and wrote letters to her daily as they anticipated getting married.  They married on September 21,1952.  As high school sweethearts they always had a deep love and commitment to each other.  God was in the center of their relationship and they sought His will in their lives.

In 1953 Jack went to work in his father-in-law’s grocery store the Arneson Grocery.  Jack purchased the grocery store from Clifford W. Arneson in 1960.  It became Jack’s Super Valu and remained so until 1985.  Jack loved God and he loved people and the Lord helped him in his business.

Jack leaves behind his wife of 71 years Gloria of Spring Valley, WI (currently residing at Christian Community Homes, Pine Ridge, Hudson, WI),  his children, Lynn (Bill) Durfee of Lakewood, CO, Mary (Scott) Walburg of Cambridge, MN, Barry Weghorn of Redwing, MN, six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sister Pat Gavic of Spring Valley, WI, brother Dick (Barb) of Menomonie, WI, brother Mike (Kathy) of Eau Claire, WI, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews and their families as well as other relatives and friends.

Jack now celebrates his new life in Heaven with his parents Harland and Stella Weghorn, his son Blake, his granddaughter Ashley and his brother-in-law Ralph Gavic.
