It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lowell Mandelkow (Porkchop) a loving husband, father, grandfather, and the legendary voice of the prominent sport of horse pulling. Lowell passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025 at the age of 81.
Born in Red Wing to Clarence & Ione (Ladner) Mandelkow, Lowell developed a passion for the exhilarating sport of horse pulling. For decades, his powerful and enthusiastic voice was a symbol of excitement and tradition at events. Whether calling out the teams or sharing stories in the pits, he never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He was known for his encouraging nature, lifting everyone around him.
Lowell married Julie Munson October 10,1964 and later divorced. Lowell married Jeanelle June 18, 1976. Lowell worked many years for S.B.Foot Tannery Red Wing, Mn. until his health made him retire 2003.
Off the track, Lowell was a devoted family man. His family was his pride and joy. He worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed and faced every challenge with admirable strength and courage.
Lowell is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanelle (Hague) his children, Christy (late Randy Nadeau), Tina (Gabriel) Roldan & Cory Mandelkow & adopted son David. His sister Vicky (Dayle) Banitt, and his cherished grandchildren, Michael, Mitchell (Kelsey), Megan, Antonio (Jocelyn), Jazmin, Angel, Malaya, Brandon, Madison, Marisol, Lennox, Allen and Kayden; and numerous other family/friends.
He is preceded in death by Clarence & Ione Mandelkow (parents), Russell & Delores Hague (in laws), Nicholas & Sofia Roldan Mandelkow, (grandchildren), Kay Grant (sister), Rick Hague (brother in law), Eric Marx (brother in law), Duane Broson (brother in law), Jim Hague (brother in law), Zona Hague (sister in law), Randy Nadeau (son in law), Jamie Hague (nephew), Jessica Grant (niece).
A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Spring Valley on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. We will remember the stories, the laughter, and the man who made every pull feel like a championship run.
