Marlene Aamodt Obituary

Marlene Aamodt, age 90, of Spring Valley, Wisconsin, died Monday, June 15, 2026, at the Spring Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Marlene was born March 25, 1936, to Fred and Ruth (Lewis) Wanbaugh in Knapp, Wisconsin. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and a long time member of Gilman Lutheran Church, Spring Valley. She attended Spring Valley Schools and graduated with the Class of 1954.

On July 28, 1956, Marlene married Arland Aamodt at St. Paul, Minnesota and celebrated 67 years together.  They lived and raised their three children in Gilman Township outside of Spring Valley.

Marlene was an active member of Gilman Lutheran Church and had served many years as Ladies Aid President.  She was also a member of their quilting group.  She served as treasurer of the Spring Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Spring Valley American Legion Auxiliary Post 227.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arland; parents Fred and Ruth; brother Donald Wanbaugh and his wife Marge; sisters Dorothy Gorton and her husband Doug and Velma Anderson and her husband Wayne.

   Survivors include her children: Brad (Cindy) Aamodt, Terry Aamodt, Teresa (Tom) Bornbach; grandchildren: Allisson (Nate) Kral, Amanda Fondow, Kylie (Cole) Jensen, Rian (Jeremy) Rahm; step-grandchildren: Danielle (Jason) Smith, Grant (Sheila) Bornbach; great-grandchildren: Connor, Hailey and Dylan Kral, Jonpaul and Evangeline Fondow, RJ and Danica Quinn, Taylor Jensen, Paxton, Devyn and Taelyn Rahm; step-great-grandchildren: Addison and Aiden Smith, Theo Bornbach; sister: Vicky (Jack) Oglesby; along with other relatives and friends.

Memorial service for Marlene will be Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Gilman Lutheran Church, Spring Valley. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Burial will be in Gilman Lutheran Cemetery, Spring Valley.
