Mary Ann Jensen, a cherished soul whose life was a testament to love, compassion, and unwavering dedication, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, at the Spring Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born on December 2, 1937, in the quaint town of Elmwood, Wisconsin, Mary Ann was the beloved daughter of Harold W. and Mary I. (Pittman) Smith. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and warmth that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Mary Ann's journey began in Elmwood, where she graduated from Elmwood High School in 1954. Driven by a desire to care for others, she pursued a career in nursing, earning her licensed practical nursing degree from Red Wing Technical School in Red Wing, Minnesota, in 1979. Mary Ann dedicated 35 years of her life to serving others at the Spring Valley Nursing Home, where her compassion and dedication touched countless lives.
In 1956, Mary Ann embarked on a lifelong adventure when she married the love of her life, Dale D. Jensen, on August 25 in Toul, France. Their enduring love story was one of shared dreams and unwavering support, and they built a beautiful family together. Mary Ann now joins her husband Dale, who predeceased her on August 16, 2016, in eternal peace.

Her nurturing spirit extended to her 20 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren who brought her immense joy and happiness. She is also survived by her brothers, Dan Smith and Alan Smith, who will carry her memory with them.
Mary Ann was a woman of great faith, actively involved in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elmwood, WI. Her devotion was evident in her roles as a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, a Rosary Leader, was dedicated to a weekly hour of Adoration, and money counter. She was also a dedicated member of the Elmwood Community Enrichment Council and in earlier years served with the Spring Valley Ambulance Service.
A true pioneer of her time, Mary Ann was a "foodie" long before the term became popular. She delighted in discovering new recipes, shopping, and exploring exciting new places to dine and shop. Her home was a reflection of her love for beauty, meticulously maintained and filled with warmth and welcoming charm.
Mary Ann was predeceased by her loving parents, Harold and Mary Smith; her husband, Dale Jensen; her sons, Joseph and Edward Jensen; her son-in-law, Keith R. Johnson; her brothers, Paul (Virginia) Smith, James (Ruth) Smith, Robert (Alice) Smith, Bernard (Harriette) Smith; her sisters, Lucy Geiger, Isabella (Ralph) Engeldinger, Lydia (Gilbert) Riddle; and her sister-in-law, Kathleen Smith.
