Masen Powell

Masen Powell, age 18, of Spring Valley, died Saturday, February 11, 2023 from injuries received in an auto accident.

Visitation for Masen will be on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from noon until 4 p.m. at the Emmaus Church in Spring Valley located at South 200 Sabin Avenue in Spring Valley, 54767.

Funeral service will follow the visitation on Saturday, at 4 p.m. at Emmaus Church.

   Masen was born August 26, 2004 to Ron and Sandy (Vanderpoel) Powell in River Falls, Wisconsin.  Masen grew up in Spring Valley where he attended grade school and high school.  He attended Boyceville High School his freshman year and returned to Spring Valley for his sophomore year.

   Masen loved being around his family and friends.He was a talented athlete and participated in basketball, football and track.He was part of a relay team that set a track record multiple times and participated in State Competition his sophomore year.

   He also enjoyed playing video games and listening to music. He would take any opportunity to play his favorite songs to anyone that would listen. Masen had a smile that lit up the room and his witty personality could bring joy to anyone around him. He made sure every room he entered took on his happiness. Masen had so many dreams for his future and would want his friends & family to always strive for their own.

   He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Virgil and Leta Powell and Marlowe Vanderpoel.

   He is survived by his father Ron (Jen) Powell; mother Sandy (Scott Spilde) Vanderpoel; siblings: Jason Powell; Brooke (Brandon) Hillstead; Shantelle (Dan Rademaker) Smith; Tyrell (Trish Johnson) Smith; Trenton (Nikki) Smith; and Trace Smith; several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

   Pallbearers: Jason Powell, Tyrell Smith, Trenten Smith, Daniel Rademaker, Gabreil Severson and Elijah Poulin. Honorary pallbearers: Trace Smith, Brandon Hillstead and Gage Rademaker.
