Mildred Edna Eads Mackert, 98 and a half, years old, passed away peacefully in her home in Spring Valley Wisconsin, where she moved, to be near her youngest sister Marie, and under the loving care of her daughter Lucy.
She was born on May 14,1922 to Lon and Lucy Eads, on the family farm known as " The Gibson Place", in Eastern Colorado, in the town of Thurman.The middle child of their 10 children. Her father rented various farms in that area, before giving up farming and moving to Calhan, Co. Mildred graduated highschool there.
While in high-school there were four Mildreds in her grade, she being the smallest was knicknamed Midget, which later became
Midge, which name she was known by for most of her life.
She was joined in marriage on April 1,1943 to Clyde Chapman Mackert in the state of Georgia, he being stationed there, during
WWII. To this union was given 11 children, and six generations of grandchildren. Countless others lovingly call her Mother.
She raised her family in Salt Lake City, Utah..where she worked as, a QA inspector, in different companies, before establishing and operating the Thrift Center in Colorado City, Arizona, where they came home to live after retirement. Her love for hard work, she ingrained in her children. She was thrifty, and a master at motherhood, sewing, cleaning, cooking, and teaching her children. Her greatest joy came in serving others. She loved the Lord, and lived her religion, and sang the songs of Zion, to her dying breath. Acknowledging the authority in her life, she said," I am at peace, it is done". All who knew her loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents and 8 of her siblings, husband Clyde, and several grandchildren.
Survived by her sister Marie Christensen(Charles), and all of her children, Carole, Connie, Lucy, Clyde, Philip, Paula, Howard, Roberta, Stan, Andrea, and Camille.
Service and burial will be in Flagler, Colorado at the Flagler Baptist Church on Friday, December 18.
