Norma Bee Obituary

Norma Bee, age 94, of  Baldwin, Wisconsin died Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at the Baldwin Care Center.

Celebration of Life for Norma will be on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Gilman Lutheran Church, Spring Valley.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at church.  Masks will be required at the church.

Private burial will be in Gilman Lutheran Cemetery, Spring Valley.

Norma was born March 29, 1927 to Norman and Eda (Bossman) Sorenson at her parent’s home in the town of Eau Galle in rural Baldwin, Wisconsin.

Norma was baptized and confirmed at the Gilman Church and was a lifelong member of Gilman Lutheran Church.

She attended all 8 grades at the one room Wildwood School and graduated from the Spring Valley High School in 1945.

Norma worked in an office in Minneapolis for two years   She married Francis Bee on April 5, 1947, at the home of her parents by Rev. S. Berven.  They rented a farm the first year and then bought their farm in Gilman Township. Together they farmed their land for 30 years and raised their four children: Nancy, Lois, Alan and Douglas.

Francis and Norma were very active in the Gilman Church.  They were Luther League advisors several years and 4-H Project Leaders.  Norma was also very active in the Gilman WELCA.  She taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. Norma loved to can and freeze their garden produce, bake, cook, sew, crochet, and make quilts.

Francis passed away on September 14, 2003.  The following September Norma sold her home and moved into Cedar Crest apartments in Baldwin.  Here she enjoyed playing card games with her friends and reading books  She also did volunteering at the Senior Center for 9 years.  She loved spending time with her family. In January of 2020 she moved to the Birchwood Apartments.

She was preceded in death by her husband Francis; daughter Nancy Anderson; son Douglas Bee; great grandson Dawson Boelter; her parents Norman and Eda Sorenson; her 3 brothers: Dale, Stanley and Robert Sorenson; sisters-in-law: Harriette Sorenson, Helen Sorenson, Lois Bee, Pat Bee, brothers-in-law: Eldon Bee, Duane Bee, and Pat Weber; nephews Robert Rudolph, Mick Rudolph and Bill Bee.

Survivors include her children: Lois (Bruce) Benedict of Cottage Grove; Alan Bee of Menomonie; son-in-law Gerald (Diane) Anderson of Ellsworth; daughter-in-law Lori Bee of Baldwin; 10 grandchildren: Sherry (Steve) Marson, Sandy (Brent) Place, Shelly (Chris) Boelter, Kristen (John) McBrien, Brock (Chelsey Sand) Benedict, Adam (Kaitin) Benedict, Amy (Christopher) Rothlisberger, Bryan (Rachel) Bee, Tanner Bee, and Kayla (Dillian Friedrich) Bee; 19 great grandchildren: Tyler and Jared Marson, Jasmine and Taite Place, Caleb and Avery Boelter, Andy and Eddie McBrien, Melah and Ethan Benedict, and Elaina Sand, Hudson and Roman Benedict, Maverick Rothlisberger, Alayna and Payton Bee, Jaylen, Riley, and Jax Friedrich; many other relatives and friends.
