Phyllis (Moldenhauer) Brunkhorst Obituary

Phyllis (Moldenhauer) Brunkhorst, (August 29, 1931-March 12, 2023), of River Falls, formerly of Prescott, Wisconsin, died Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Comforts of Home in River Falls.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 17, 2023, from 11 a.m. until noon at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Spring Valley.

Memorial service for Phyllis will be at noon on Friday, March 17 following the visitation at St. Matthew’s.

Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Spring Valley.

 

Phyllis (Moldenhauer) Brunkhorst, age 91, of River Falls, Wisconsin, formerly of Prescott, Wisconsin, will be laid to rest on Friday, 17 March. Phyllis passed on 12 March at Comforts of Home in River Falls surrounded by her loving family.

Phyllis was born August 29, 1931 to William and Edna (Dahms) Moldenhauer in Baldwin, Wisconsin.  She grew up in Cady Township, worked at the Cady Cheese Factory, and attended Spring Valley Schools, graduating with the Class of 1949.

Phyllis was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Spring Valley, Wisconsin, where she also married the love of her life, Neil Brunkhorst, on 15 April 1950. Phyllis and Neil were married for nearly 70 years and were blessed with 4 children: Pamela, Ann, Daniel and David.

Phyllis and Neil lived in Prescott WI for 52 years, where Phyllis retired from 3M with over 30 years of loyal employment. Phyllis was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Prescott, Wisconsin for over 50 years. She enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, dancing, pontoon rides, cooking, canning, walking, and taking care of Neil, but she was best known for her "Phyllis recipe" baking and for giving the best hugs.

 

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Neil who passed in July 2019, Son-in Law Ken Hart (January 2019), infant sister Yvonne, brother Lavern (Fern) Moldenhauer, and sister Audrey (Gene) Swanson.

 

She is survived, and will be missed by her four children: Pamela (Ken) Herink, Ann (Ken) Hart, Daniel (Sue) Brunkhorst, and David (Camille) Brunkhorst, 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren: Nicosia (Corbett) Hoenninger and children Levi and Brek; Mathew (Erica) Herink and children Elliot, Simon, and Owen; Amanda (Al) Peterson and daughter Mikayla (Donovan) Tretsven; Ryan (Jennifer) Herink and children Luke, Jackson and Julia; Melissa (Kurt) Tape; Jared (Kelly) Schickling and children Nina and Sam; Jacob (Jessica) Brunkhorst and children Gage and Holt; Lindsey Schickling; Connor Brunkhorst and children Camden and Miley; Megan Brunkhorst and children Rhylee and Krislynn; Abbey Brunkhorst.

Phyllis will be laid to rest on Friday, March 17, 2023, in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Spring Valley.
