Richard Roatch, age 80, of Spring Valley, Wisconsin died Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at his home in Spring Lake Township with his family by his side.
A Celebration of Life will begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 11 with
a Memorial Service to be held at 5:30 p.m., all at his home, (located at N7071 110th St, Spring Valley). Military Honors will be performed by Crain-Ottman American Legion Post 207 of Elmwood.
The evening will end with a display of fireworks at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Richard was born January 28, 1941, the son of Alfred and Frances (Hines) Roatch in Eau Galle Township, St Croix County, Wisconsin. He grew up and attended Spring Valley Schools and graduated with the Class of 1959. After high school, Rich worked for several years before entering the United States Army in 1963.
On February 19, 1966 Rich married Kathy Schlosser at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spring Valley. They were blessed with 3 children: Don, Chuck, and Mary Jo. Although the marriage ended in divorce, Richard and Kathy remained close.
Rich was hard working and worked many jobs through the years, including Standard Battery, Hince Construction, and Mixon, Inc. He spent lots of time with his boys. They did many building and remodeling projects together, and spent many hours working on and restoring cars, including his corvette.
He enjoyed celebrating the 4th of July with his family and friends with food and fireworks. He also enjoyed deer hunting, elk hunting in Colorado, fishing on the Great Lakes, watching football, mowing lawn, and just going for a drive.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers and their wives: LaMoine and Jan Roatch and Wayne and Sharon Roatch; granddaughter Mary Ann Roatch; and former wife Kathy.
Survivors include his children: Don Roatch of Spring Valley; Chuck (Missy) Roatch of Elmwood, and Mary Jo (Dan) Rhy of Knapp, 9 grandchildren: Angela (Dan) Winger, Miranda (Sean) Lybert, Kayla Borup, Jayden Roatch, Laura Hoyt, Lindsey Klatt, Lucas (Chimdiya) Roatch, Logan Roatch, and Joshua Rhy; 9 great grandchildren: Madalyn, Kendalyn, Mason, Gavin, Raylynn, Brycin, Paisley, Lainey, and Evalyn; sisters: Mary Hines and Donna (Eugene) Anderle; many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends.
