Rose Hovde Obituary

Rose Hovde, age 97, of Spring Valley, died Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at the Spring Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Visitation will be on Friday, July 22, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spring Valley and one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday.

Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. following visitation.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 23 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Spring Valley.

Rosie as she was known to most people went to school at Locust Grove and then to Spring Valley High School graduating with the class of 1943.

In 1947 Rosie was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, Glenn E Hovde at the St Joseph’s Catholic Church in El Paso, Wisconsin by Father George Hardy.

This union was blessed with 10 children. She helped Glenn on the farm for many years. After selling the farm, they build a home on one corner of the farm where they lived until Glenn died in 1976. Rosie remained at the house and with Gods help took care of her family. She sold the house later and moved to Spring Valley.

Over the years Rosie wore many hats She was active in her church on many committees, choir, quilting,  pastoral council, Social justice, plus a eucharistic minister for the nursing homes for over 30 years. She had been a Welcome Wagon Hostess 20 years, active in many organizations such as the Locust Grove Community Club, American Legion Auxillary, Flower Hat Ladies, 4-H Extention Office, Office of Aging, and did a lot of volunteering.

Rosie loved to bake and cook. She made many loaves of bread, and her specialty was doughnuts. She also enjoyed embroidery, reading, and word puzzles. She dearly loved her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed having a cup of coffee with family and friends when they dropped in for a visit. She loved dancing and her Irish Ancestry.

Proceeding her in death were her parents, husband Glenn, son Glenn Jr, daughter Mary Ellen Platson, infant daughter, Sisters: Sister M. Murial Carr, Frances Merth and LaMoine Hanson, Brother-in-laws Frank Merth, and Lorne Hanson.

Left to mourn: Rosalie (Raymond) Timm, David Platson, Charles (Cheryl) Hovde, Gerald (Marilyn) Hovde, Robert (Kay) Hovde, Elizabeth (Todd) Dull, David (Rita) Hovde, Kevin (Lisa) Hovde) 23 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
