Sharon Kay (Miley) Nelson, age 77, of Spring Valley, died Monday, May 23, 2022 at Park View Home in Woodville.  Sharon was born on June 22nd 1944 in Eau Claire to George and Alta Miley.  Sharon grew up in Spring Valley with sister Sandy (Bune) and brother Pat.  She graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1962.  After graduation she worked for St. Paul Title and Abstract.  Soon after she married Duane Nelson of Hammond, where they lived for two years. They were blessed with two children, Stacey Marie and Carter William.  In 1968 they moved to Spring Valley.  Over the years Sharon worked at Dunn County and Spring Valley Health Care Centers and was a stay-at-home mom where she did daycare for family and friends in her home.  In 1977 she was part of the first class of Spring Valley residents to complete the EMT training where she served the community for almost 10 years.  Sharon also worked in the business office at the River Falls clinic and the collections department at the Red Cedar Clinic in Menomonie where she retired after 17 years.

Sharon was President of Gilman Lutheran Church and a member of WELCA. She loved to sing and participated in the Spring Valley Community Choir, Gilman Lutheran Church Choir, and a small travelling women’s choir.  She played the accordion and was in a quilting group at church, but she is probably most fondly remembered for her performances in the Spring Valley Folliez with her sister as the infamous “Lollipop Sisters”. Friends and family were always welcome around the kitchen table on McKay Street for coffee, conversation, and lots and lots of laughs. Sharon was a second mom/grandma to all the neighborhood children, which she loved.

Sharon will be greatly missed by her husband, Duane, daughter Stacey (Mark), granddaughters Patti and Annika, son Carter (Tracy), beloved dog, Cookie, her large close-knit family, and many, many friends.

She is predeceased by her father George, mother Alta, sister Sandy and her brother Pat.
