Shawn Smith, age 56, of Woodville, died suddenly on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minnesota.
A graveside service will be on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Brookville Cemetery on County Road N in Eau Galle Township, Wisconsin.
A Celebration of Life will held from 2-6 p.m. at the Wilson Legion following the graveside service.
Shawn was born May 19, 1969, to Bill and Diane (Hampton) Smith in Menomonie, Wisconsin. He attended Spring Valley School.
Shawn married Sandra Vanderpoel, and they had four children: Shantelle, Tyrell, Trenton, and Trace. They were later divorced.
Shawn was a ‘jack of all trades’. He farmed and did carpenter and HVAC work. Shawn didn’t need blood relation to make someone feel as though they were family. His home was open to all and many as he had a soft spot for babies, older ladies and kids in need. Many of those kids called him dad. He “lived on his tractor”, enjoyed pool, dancing, reading and spending time with his family and friends. He lived hundreds of lives in just 56 years which gave him an unmatched personality, wit, and humor. Shawn never missed an opportunity to tell those he loved how much they meant to him.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brother Patrick Smith.
Survivors include his girlfriend, Julie Matzoll; his children: Shantelle (Daniel Rademaker) Smith; Tyrell (Trisha) Smith; Trenton J. “Motorcycle” (Nikki) Smith; and Trace Smith; 6 grandchildren: Gage and Laillah Rademaker, Violet, Waylon, Lincoln and Willam Smith; siblings Kari Hillstead, Jamie Smith; and Kory Smith, many other relatives and friends.
