Shirley Holerud, age 83, of Baldwin, Wisconsin, formerly Spring Valley, died Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Park View Home, Woodville.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 3, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at St John’s Lutheran Church, Spring Valley, Wisconsin and one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday. Funeral service will be on Saturday, March 4 at 11 a.m. at St John’s Lutheran Church, Spring Valley.
Burial will be at St John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Spring Valley.
Shirley was born January 2, 1934 in Byron Township, Monroe County, Wisconsin to Earl and Lela (Nutting) Bennett. She and her family moved to the Spring Valley area when Shirley was 7 years old where she attended Spring Valley Schools.
On April 21, 1951, Shirley married Raymond Holerud at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Spring Valley. They were blessed with 4 children: Jennie, Joyce, Cecil and Charles, and lived in Cady Township. Shirley worked at Smeads in River Falls for 34 years. In 1997 she moved from Cady Township to Baldwin. Shirley was also a caretaker to many, especially her husband Ray, her father Earl, and her daughter Joyce.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ray; daughter Joyce; 3 sisters and their husbands: Evelyn and Clifton Van Riper; Beulah and Bernard Babcock; and Elizabeth and Wayburn Gedatus; also in-laws: Roy Traynor, Harriett and Dale Sorenson, Glenn, Jim, and Merlin Holerud, Wayne Lorentson, Delores Holerud, Lyman Jensen and Virgil Gedatus.
Survivors include her children: Jennie (Ken) Drinkman of Menomonie; sons Cecil Holerud of Menomonie and Charles Holerud of New Richmond; son-in-law Bill Hartung of Elmwood; ex daughter-in-law Alliscon Holerud-Springer of Amery; sister Arlene Traynor of Baldwin; 4 grandchildren: Ann (Mike) Kouba; Andy Drinkman; Charlie Holerud Jr.; and Heather (Jake Wilson) Holerud; 5 great grandchildren: Jack and Raylee Kouba; Chase and Madelyn Drinkman; and Bella Wilson; in-laws: Judy Jensen, Lucille Gedatus, Helen Lorentson, Rose Holerud, and Virginia Holerud, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are Bob Traynor, Dick Traynor, Duane Traynor, Todd Holerud, Rick Jensen, Jeff Traynor, Patty Kerr, and Lillian Place.
