Vernon Vanasse

Vernon Vanasse, age 64, died July 13, 2023, at his home in Gilman Township after a difficult battle with cancer.

Visitation for Vern will be from 9-11 a.m. on Friday, July 21, 2023, at the Vanasse Farm, located at N7963 290th St, Spring Valley.

Memorial service will follow on Friday at 11:30 at the farm.

"If anyone of our friends or family would like to drive their tractor, semi tractor, muscle car, old truck any condition to our celebration of life as a tribute to Vern we would be honored to have you bring.  We are not cleaning them up, gonna be as dad said "in their work clothes" just trying to embrace dads love of old iron so we all can reminisce, visit and enjoy the day!! Thanks his broken hearted sons…"

   Vern was born December 30, 1958 to Irvin and Evelyn (Spence) Vanasse in Hudson, WI. He attended school in Kasson, MN and graduated with the Class of 1977. Vern married his high school sweetheart, Sheryl Olson. They were married July 29, 1978 in Kasson. In 1978 they moved to Spring Valley, WI.

   Vern farmed his entire life here in Spring Valley. He started Vanasse Transport LLC hauling oversized loads, mobile homes, and grain commodities. His sons joined in trucking with their dad when they graduated from high school. Farming and trucking were Vern’s passions in life, and even more so that he was able to enjoy both with his sons. Vern milked cows off and on over the years and eventually sold his milking herd to invest in beef cattle. Vern and Sheryl thoroughly enjoyed taking ranger rides to see the cows and the new calves in the spring.

   He enjoyed spending time with his family, going for ranger rides, visiting with his dad, going to the lake for boat rides, watching grandkids play sports, and watching westerns on their big screen tv. Vern enjoyed the companionship of his dog, Casi, that will greet him on the other side.

   He was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn; maternal grandparents Vernon and Eunice Spence; and paternal grandparents Earl and Carrie Vanasse.

   Survivors include his wife Sheryl; sons Mitch (Tina) Vanasse and Mike (Kaija) Vanasse; father Irvin Vanasse; grandchildren Charli, Milli, Tyler, Wynni, Travis, Bryce, Corde, Troy, and Teddy; siblings Jeff (Kristi) Vanasse, Vicki Miller, and Jamie Vanasse; many other relatives.
