Viola R. Roquette of Woodville, WI - age 93 passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital after a brief illness. She found her greatest joy in time shared with friends and family.
Viola was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1932 to Gilbert and Vivian (Hietkamp) Lemke at her fraternal grandmother’s home in Menomonie, WI. She graduated from Menomonie High School with the class of 1950. From September 1950 until March of 1953 she worked at First National Bank at 5th & Marquette, downtown Minneapolis.
She married Talley Roquette, the love of her life, on March 20, 1953 and moved to the farm “Vi-Tal” south of Woodville where they raised their five children.
The only time Vi “worked” outside the home was at the elections in the Town of Eau Galle and the Village of Woodville. She enjoyed this and only quit when computers took over & Covid began. She helped with the milking and barn chores, but never in the field except to pick rocks. She was usually at home when the kids got off the school bus with a full cookie jar.
She was active in the Woman’s organization and Joy Circle at Peace Lutheran Church, Baldwin. Vi was the general leader of the Double Good 4-H club for almost 50 years. She enjoyed hearing how well former members were doing. Vi was also asked to join the local Homemaker club 2 months after she married. Later it became Pleasant Grove HCE. She was a member continuously for over 70 years. Vi was on the Woodville Senior Center Board for several years serving as President for a few years and then as secretary. She enjoyed playing bingo and dominoes there and catching up with news.
She volunteered at Day Away while it was in Woodville. She read & recorded the Woodville Leader and Baldwin Bulletin for the Visually impaired for the ADRC of St. Croix County. When she could no longer donate blood, she called people to set up appointments for the Red Cross Bloodmobile. That ended when it was done by computer; she never did get a computer.
Vi was a member of the Baldwin Red Hat Society which she helped start then dropped out during Covid.
Vi was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and the owner of one share.
After Talley’s death in 1995, Vi bought a house in Woodville moving there in March of 1996.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Talley, grandson Rollie Roquette, great grandson Isaac Nielsen, her sister, Violet (Glines) Becker, 2 brothers-in-law, Ed Glines and Norman Becker. She is survived by her children: Randy Roquette (Sandy), Sharon Quandt (Dave), Deb Roquette (Steve), Kathy Gunter (Jon), and Rick Roquette (Barb) and her 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, brother Allen Lemke (Sheila), sister-in-law Ann Emerson (Paul), brother-in-law George Roquette (Lois), and sister-in-law Nancy Gehrman (Randy).
Funeral services will be held at 3pm, (visitation from 1pm to 3pm), on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at Peace Lutheran Church, 2084 County Road N, Baldwin WI.
