Walter Hofacker, age 95, of Spring Valley, Wisconsin died Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Menomonie.
A private family service will be held on Friday, June 17 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Spring Valley.
Walter was born June 6, 1927 to William and Martha (Lashinger) Hofacker in the Town of Eau Galle, Pepin, County, Wisconsin. He grew up and attended school at Weber School near Eau Galle.
On April 24, 1947, Walter married Dorothy Wakefield at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle. They lived in Eau Galle and Menomonie before moving to Spring Valley. Walter and Dorothy enjoyed 73 years of marriage. Walter had farmed for a few years before starting his trucking business. He and Dorothy spent many hours together on the road in the semi, traveling all across the United States. They also collected and sold antiques and operated ABC Antiques in Baldwin for a number of years.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Dorothy; and sisters and their husbands: Dorothy and Clarence Stratton and Betty and Ed Sabelko.
He is survived by; sons: Ed (Gail) Hofacker of Spring Valley and Dan (Lorrie) Hofacker of Eau Claire; daughters Sue (Calvin) Whirry of Spring Valley and Cindy (Ed) Hewitt of Red Wing; 6 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
A private family service will be Friday, June 17 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Spring Valley.
Honorary bearers are Luke Thornton, Jack Thornton, Emily Hofacker and Taylor Hofacker.
Bearers are Dylan Hofacker, Tyler Dewall, Ethan Hofacker, Justin Hofacker, Nikolas Hofacker, and Jon Helgeson.
