Helen Wentlandt, age 98, of Spring Valley died Monday, May 1, 2017 at Spring Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley.

Services will be private.

Helen was born on April 14, 1919 to Carl and Bessie (Thompson) Cooke in the township of Spring Lake, Pierce County, Wisconsin.  She was baptized in the Methodist Faith and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith at St. Matthews, township of Cady. She attended the Olivet Grade School and graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1936.

Her father was the love of her life until she met Cub (Irvin Wentlandt).  She and Cub were united in marriage on October 3, 1940 at the parsonage at Grange Hall, Wisconsin.  From this union 3 children were born.  Wesley, Russel, and Sharon.

In 1944 they purchased their farm in Spring Lake township where they worked side by side until retirement.  Helen worked out of the home at Stockman's V Store, where her passion for sewing help her sell yard goods for many years.

Family always came first in Helen's life and she was happiest having her family seated at her table feeding them. Her favorite saying was "Save room for pie."  Some of her hobbies included sewing, quilting, and baking.  Everyone will always remember her special spƤtzle, her wonderful sweet rolls and her legendary 4-tier custard cake, know as the "Birthday Cake."  In her later years her favorite past time was meeting people, sharing stories, and life experiences.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the loving staff at the Spring Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center for the care they gave to Helen in the last stage of her journey. You will never be forgotten and always be a part of this family.
